Attempt for composition improvement.

Hmm, good photography is NOT about how impressive and expensive is the camera we use.. It's actually about composition.

Try to remember the essay writings we did back in school days. Producing bad composition, will resulted in endless nag by our language teacher plus bad examination grades :-(

Photo was taken by my hubby reaching home right after work.

Actually, this is not much difference with photography. Well, I'm not implying on being nagged by our language teacher all over again, however... I'm referring to the significance of the 'composition' itself.

Without good composition, we could not expressed our thought correctly. Hence, the information could not be relaid successfully, and may create misunderstanding.. which is bad.. :-(

Therefore, I will try to improve on my 'photography composition' and hope that through time.. it'll get better with practice...

Nikon Seminar in Ikano Power Centre

How will you respond when you know that there will be a free seminar on your topic of interest conducted in a nearby shopping mall?? ..Thrilled??.. Jumping up and down??.. Can't wait to sms / call your buddy and share the great news??In fact, that's what happen to me. I was so lucky bumping into my friend; Shahril in the Yahoo yesterday.

Why?? because, I will not know of the existence of photography seminars held by NIKON for 4 days starting yesterday .. and what makes it so attractive is that.. "ITS FREE"!!... yes ITS FREE!!.. so for anyone who didn't know about it.. check out the NIKON's website; 'http://www.nikon.com.my/parearticle.php?pageid=160-abc5bf5916'. The organizer; NIKON will conduct the free seminars for 2 consecutive weeks on both Saturdays and Sundays, starting yesterday. There will be 4 different topics discussed on these 4 days, ranges.. various ;-)

Really, this is extremely tempting when you know that the normal fee for a whole day photography seminar is always pricey!! I was unfortunate to miss the yesterday's seminar, hence I compensate the loss by attending it today. The seminar started as early as 11:30hr, however my hubby and I went there around 10:00hr just to secure some seats. As I had expected, the seminar became a full house around 11:15hr and poor Durah, left to stand for quite sometimes after arriving at 12:00hr.

Overall, I find the seminar today is very fruitful. Participant is not just there listening to talks and tips given by the professionals, we also were encouraged to ask whatever enquiries we had. And again... 'ITS FREE!!'. Anyways, 2 more seminars next week, so... meet you there, yea ;-)

Some snapped shots

Hmm, reading and writing ever since morning, has made me longing to take up the camera and just shoot. However, if I do that.. then I'm sure I will shoot and abandon my readings and writings.. for photography is highly seductive :-) Well, guess.. this will be a motivation for me to finish up my University proposals and colloquium paper quick so that I could have back the pleasure of photography.
OOhh.... you can do it Mimi!! :-)

Photography Workshop to commemorate Malaysian Flora Fest 2008 at MATIC on 29th June 2008

Three weeks ago, sometimes on Saturday morning, as I was tuning in to TV9 on segment 'Nasi Lemak & Kopi O' hosted by Aziz Desa, former TV3 presenter... come again?.. Haven't heard of the show...?? Well... how could you if you always wake up at noon... you have to wake up early morning in order for you to watch it :-D... Anyway, if you got the chance to wake up early morning this weekend, try tuning in to TV9 at 08:00 hrs. It's rather an informative show.. just like 'Malaysia Hari Ini' and 'Selamat Pagi Malaysia'... however in much relax environment :-)

Well, anyway.. near to the end of the show, Aziz Desa announced about Photography Workshop hold by Ministry of Tourism which at that time going to be held on the 29th June 2008. Hearing this, I was so thrilled. I really want to attend photography workshop, because I want to have the experience. Automatically, the face of my best
photography friend; Durah came into mind.. suddenly my fingers felt just want to sms her.. which I did. It turned out that she was also interested in the workshop.

I later contacted MOTOUR, however I was advised to call Editor of LIBUR in the end to get further information on the workshop. Excuzes-moi.. haven't heard of the LIBUR?... Well, its a good magazine as well, cater for those who loves traveling, really informative.. don't believe me... try buying one, you'll see:-) To make long story short, the Editor of LIBUR; En Azli was very helpful by willingly
register our name; myself, my hubby and Durah for the workshop.

On the 29th, three of us arrived at MATIC around 08:30 hr.. yeah, I know it was Sunday.. sorry WEEKEND.. we had to kissed you goodbye coz the workshop was for the whole day; 09:00hr until 17:30hr. The presenter was En Izahar Atan, well experienced in his field of photography and the best part, even though he alone had to handle the talk throughout the workshop but it was never boring.. instead, it was very much entertaining.. He was really good in making his audience always stay at high interest level.

The contents of his talk focused on 'Traveling Photography' ranges from what essential items to bring for such travelling as well as how to get the best composition from your subject until Marine photography. Seems that, Marine photography is rather expensive than land photography, because your have to buy 'housing'..which is priced at almost the same price as the DSLR..Hmm, maybe it is wise for me to stick to land photography first, yea:-)

By the way, all of the participant was given a goody bag upon registration contains 3 karangkraf magazines; LIBUR, NONA, Remaja and a black 'Flora Fest T-Shirt' cool design while participation certificate and another black 'LIBUR'
T-Shirt upon event closing:-)

As a postmortem, this event is not just affordable, it is also worthwhile.. Imagine, a RM50/day workshop; free parking + breakfast + lunch + goody bag + 2 T-Shirts + cert + invaluable knowledge sharing :-) Hey, don't feel sad, there's always a next year coz they hold this event annually...so don't missed it in the future :-)

To capture the memory, I placed in this blog several photos my hubby+Durah and myself shot during the event (by the way, it was a wonderful surprise when I met another PETRONAS friend there, En Ally which had been so generous to share his bakawali photos with the workshop group).

Enjoy :-)

Butterfly Park

4th May 2008: I'm back at the Butterfly Park again. It has been quite awhile now since I last step into this particular
Park. Counting back times, it can roughly be 13 sweet years ago.Yes, the time when life was young and full of fun.
And the most complicated problem would be 'how to let Mak understands that I want to ditch school for that day'.. haha

Anyways,yes..the Butterfly Park.. Afterall these years.. it still remain as it is.. with colorful butterflies and tranquil surrounding.I find it amazing for the Park, which is located in the heart of KL,can still function in bringing peaceful mind to its visitors.. well apart from the increase in the Entrance Fee that is. Hmm.. if it is for a good cause.. why not?

My first ever photography class that morning started around 10:00 hr. I was very lucky for my very talented, kind hearted friend Durah had offered her assistance in guiding me through basic hands-on application of DSLR camera.

Actually, I just bought a brand new Nikon D40 close to 3 weeks ago without even has the slightest idea on how to handle it. Hence, I'm thankful to have a friend as nice as Durah to show me.

Upon our arrival, Durah was already in the garden shooting images. We were very fortunate that Durah
brought an extra DSLR,and offered it to my hubby. The Butterfly Park is just nice for amateur like me and my hubby.

The park is landscaped with lots of greenery's, breathtaking waterfalls and fountains and not to forget its main attraction.. the beautiful, bright and delicate butterflies.

It is indeed a worthwhile experience to learn controlling the 'aperture', 'shutter speed', ISO and adjusting the lens when using the manual mode. During the shooting activity, we did not encounter problem in shooting the stationary objects, however we encountered measurable extent of difficulty in shooting the butterflies. I supposed that if there was a 'stress measuring equipment' around, the indicator must have reached the very maximum :-) Well, actually.. not all butterflies are wild.. some is so tame until allowing us to snap photos of them.
Hmm, come to think of it..I'm not too sure whether the still butterflies were alive.... Yikes...!!
Since none of us had a 'telephoto' lens, we were unable to snap clear image of the faraway butterflies..
What a true lost...but again... the 'telephoto' lens are extremely expensive...
its not a lost afterall then...Hmm, does anybody has a Nikon telephoto lens to lend??

All and all, the photography session was great and fun for I got the chance to spend half of my day and hobby with those whom I loved; my wonderful hubby; Amryl and dearest friend; Durah.
Thank you for your support :-)
